"Invoke the divine power and luminous grace with our Gold Polished Sakthi Vel—where tradition intertwines with sacred meaning."

This beautifully crafted gold polished vel transcends mere decoration; it serves as a spiritual symbol deeply rooted in centuries of faith. Representing the formidable astra of Lord Murugan, the Sakthi Vel is thought to eliminate negativity, safeguard the faithful, and signify triumph over malevolence. With its shining surface and detailed craftsmanship, this vel with base stands prominently as a symbol of bravery and divine vitality.

• Origins
The Vel, bestowed by Goddess Parvati to her son Murugan, is a sacred spear that encapsulates her Shakti (divine energy). It played a crucial role in the defeat of the demon Surapadman, symbolizing the victory of righteousness. Traditionally honored in Murugan temples and during festivals such as Thaipusam, the Sakthi Vel is esteemed as a channel of spiritual fortitude and insight.

Crafted from metal with a brilliant gold finish, this vel with base draws inspiration from temple art and South Indian craftsmanship. The robust base ensures it remains stable on altars, pooja shelves, or ceremonial platforms. Our Gold Polished Vel—also referred to as Sakthi Vel, Vetrivel, or Divine Spear—serves as a luminous emblem of protection and strength in any sacred environment.

•The Tale of Surapadman's Defeat

According to ancient Hindu mythology, Surapadman was a powerful demon king endowed with near invincibility by the deities. Fueled by his boon, he grew arrogant and spread chaos throughout all realms. To restore cosmic balance, Lord Shiva created his divine son, Lord Murugan, through the fiery energy of his third eye, with the blessings of Goddess Parvati. Armed with the mighty Vel—a sacred spear granted by Parvati—Murugan bravely embarked on a mission to end Surapadman’s reign of terror. One by one, he defeated the demon’s sons and armies with unwavering determination.

In the ultimate confrontation, Surapadman employed mystical illusions in a bid to evade defeat. In the end, he transformed into a gigantic tree located near Marappadu, in proximity to Tiruchendur. With a forceful thrust of his Vel, Murugan cleaved the tree in half. In a final gesture of humility, Surapadman capitulated and pleaded for mercy. Murugan, representing divine compassion, forgave him and converted the two segments of the tree into sacred emblems—a rooster, which became his battle standard, and a peacock, which became his divine steed. This act of compassion bestowed upon Murugan the title “Karunai Kadale” in Tamil, signifying “Ocean of Mercy.”
