A Glimpse into Lord Shiva's Significance
Lord Shiva, known as Mahadeva, represents the cosmic cycle of creation, preservation, and destruction. With his third eye symbolizing wisdom and destruction of evil, and the crescent moon depicting time and renewal, Shiva is revered as the protector of the universe. Lord Shiva is called Neelakandan (meaning "The Blue-Throated One") due to the legend associated with the churning of the ocean, known as the Samudra Manthan. The Devas (gods) and Asuras (demons), in search of the nectar of immortality (amrita), churned the Ocean of Milk using Mount Mandara as the churning rod and the serpent Vasuki as the rope. As the ocean was churned, many divine and wondrous treasures emerged. However, along with them came the deadly poison. This poison was so potent that it threatened to destroy all of creation with its toxic fumes. In their desperation, the Devas and Asuras turned to Lord Shiva, the cosmic destroyer and protector, for help. Out of compassion for all beings, Lord Shiva decided to drink the deadly poison to neutralize its effects and save the universe. To prevent the poison from harming him, Goddess Parvati pressed her hand on Shiva's throat, stopping it from descending into his body. The poison remained in his throat, turning it blue.

The Power of Karungali Wood:
Karungali wood is highly valued in Hinduism for its mystical qualities. It is thought to absorb and radiate positive energy, which makes it a perfect material for deity statues and spiritual artefacts. The dense and dark characteristics of Karungali wood are symbolic of protection, protecting devotees from evil forces. Worshipping a deity statue made up of Karungali wood creates a strong bond with the divine, as the deity's energy is said to combine with the wood's inherent vibrational energy to enhance the spiritual experience.
