• Professor S. Gangadaran earned his B.A. in Philosophy from Madras University, achieving the William Miller Gold Medal for First Class First Rank, and his M.A. in Philosophy with First Class Second Rank. His academic prowess in philosophy and Tamil garnered him prestigious awards such as the Dr. Radhakrishnan prize, S. D. Sargunar prize, Mackenzie prize, and others from Madras Christians College.
• Professionally, he served as an Assistant Professor of Philosophy at Sri Vivekananda College, Madras, from 1972 to 1974. He then joined the Department of Saiva Siddhanta Philosophy at Madurai Kamaraj University from its establishment and currently holds the position of Reader in the same department.
• His academic engagements extended internationally when he served as a visiting scholar at the Center for the Study of World Religions, Harvard University, for two semesters in 1985-1986. He also conducted Saiva Siddhanta classes at Malaya Arulneri Tirukkottam, Kuala Lumpur, during 1989 and 1991 and actively participated in various international and national conferences by presenting scholarly papers.
