The Divine Story of Lord Murugan
Lord Murugan, also known as Kartikeya, Skanda, or Subramanya, is a beloved deity in Hindu mythology. His birth and exploits symbolize the victory of good over evil and are celebrated with devotion and grandeur, especially in South India.

The Birth of Murugan:
The legend begins with the demon Tarakasura, who gained immense power through severe penance and began wreaking havoc across the cosmos. None of the gods were able to defeat him due to a boon that only the son of Lord Shiva could vanquish him.

To fulfill this divine purpose, Lord Murugan was born from the fiery sparks of Lord Shiva’s third eye. These sparks were carried to the Saravana Poigai, a sacred pond, where they transformed into six beautiful babies. Goddess Parvati lovingly united these six forms into one divine being with six faces, giving rise to the name Shanmuga (the six-faced one).
