Source of the phrase ‘Satyameva Jayate,’ India’s National motto, Mundaka Upanishad is a Vedic text within the folds of Atharva Veda, whose translations and explanations by Swami Kamalatmananda, head monk of Ramakrishna Math, Madurai, enlightens the reader about the philosophical implications while practising the Yoga of Knowledge.

The Upanishad which ensures that the student leaves clean shaved (Mundaka), of ignorance, renounced and prepared to devote themselves to spiritual contemplation. Interestingly, Mundaka Upanishad has contrasting commentaries by different sources which focus on the oneness between Atman and Brahman, the distinction between them and those emphasizing dualism and modern commentaries which offer a fresh perspective.
