Long ago, Lord Brahma and Lord Vishnu entered into a debate over who among them was supreme. Brahma, the creator, believed he was the source of all existence, while Vishnu, the preserver, maintained that the universe survived through His sustaining power. As their dispute intensified, a dazzling pillar of light suddenly appeared before them. It stretched infinitely upward beyond the heavens and downward beyond the deepest realms. Neither its beginning nor its end could be seen. To discover its limits, Lord Vishnu assumed the form of Varaha, the divine boar, and traveled downward in search of the base. Lord Brahma transformed into a swan and soared upward to locate the top. Vishnu searched tirelessly but found no end. Brahma too could not reach the summit. Vishnu humbly accepted his inability and bowed before the infinite light. Brahma, however, falsely claimed that he had found the top. At that moment, Lord Shiva emerged from the pillar and revealed the truth. He blessed Vishnu for his honesty and taught Brahma the importance of humility.
