A Brief Tale of Lord Ganesha’s Birth:
According to legend, Goddess Parvati, feeling lonely during Lord Shiva's meditation, created a child from turmeric paste. She breathed life into him and named him Vinayaka. One day, when Parvati asked Vinayaka to guard the door, Lord Shiva returned unexpectedly and was stopped by the boy, who didn't recognize him. In his anger, Shiva beheaded Vinayaka. Upon seeing her son lifeless, Parvati demanded Shiva restore him, threatening to destroy the universe. Moved by her plea, Lord Shiva sent his servants to find a replacement head, which they did from an elephant calf. The head was placed on Vinayaka's body, reviving him. Lord Shiva, in repentance, gave him the name Ganesha, the Lord of Wisdom and Remover of Obstacles.
