Description
Vibhuti or Bhasma is the sacred ash used in religious worship. The main ingredient of Vibuthi is cow-dung cake. It is burnt in a sacred fire (Viraja-Homa) to turn into white ash. Mere application of Vibhuti ensures health, happiness and liberation.
Vibuthi is also distributed to devotees as prasad (blessed offering) during religious ceremonies and festivals. Wearing Vibuthi is considered an act of surrender and devotion to the divine.
