Sri Rama Charitha Geetham, by Papanasam Sivan, is also available In English with a foreword by Semmangudi Srinivasa Iyer. The book is a printed version of the opera which was sung by Dr. Sirkazhi Govindarajan. The Ramayana which is narrated in the book, is performed passionately with dedication by eminent artists of Carnatic music.
Papanasam Sivan has composed the Valmiki Ramayana in its entirety using 24 ragas. He adds sittai swaraas to Bala Kandam and delivers it in Natai, Kharaharapriya, Pantuvarali, and Suddha Saveri. In Muhaari, Sahaana, Vasantha, Todi, Mohanam, and Nada Namakriya, he renders Ayodhya Kandam. Papanasam Sivan selects Kamas, Kalyani, Ananda Bhairavi, and Aabohi for Aranya Kandam and Kishkinta Kanadam.
Kambhoji and Simhendra Madhyamam depict the Sundara Kandam, whereas Bhairavi, Aarabhi, Kedaram, Navarasa Kannada Manirangu, Brindavana Saranga, and Suruti Madhyamavathi depict the Yudhdha Kandam.
