Rukmani Kalyanam, a revered festival in South India, celebrates the divine marriage of Goddess Rukmini and Lord Krishna. Rukmani, deeply in love with Lord Krishna, yearned for marriage despite her father's plans. She sent a message to Krishna, who arrived on a chariot, sweeping her away. Enraged, Rukmani's brother chased them but was humbled by Krishna's divine presence, and their union took place in the city of Dwarka. During the festival, temples are adorned with flowers and lights, and devotees joyously reenact their wedding, chanting hymns and performing rituals. It symbolizes love, harmony, and the eternal bond between a devotee and the divine.

Satyabhama, daughter of the Yadava King Satrajita, owned the Syamantaka jewel, which was given to her father by the sun-god Surya. Satrajita refused to part with it, even when Krishna, the king of Dvaraka, offered to keep it safe. Later, Prasena, Satrajita's brother, was killed by a lion while wearing the jewel. The lion was then hunted down by Jambavan, who gave the jewel to his daughter, Jambavati. When Prasena didn’t return, rumors spread that Krishna had killed him to steal the jewel. To clear his name, Krishna set out to find the jewel, and discovered it in Jambavan’s cave. After a 28-day battle, Jambavan recognized Krishna as the holy deity, apologized, and returned the jewel. Krishna returned the jewel to Satrajita, who, in gratitude, offered both the jewel and his daughter, Satyabhama, in marriage. Thus the marriage of Krishna and Bhama happened.
