Jataka Tales-Tales Of Misers

Two misers named Ilisa and Kesiya foolishly spent their lives worrying. How happy they and their family would have been if they had realized the joy of giving and sharing! The Jataka stories restate the central teaching of the Buddha, which is that desire and greed obstruct the way to permanent pleasure. These humorous tales instill in us a respect for both others and ourselves. However, much like Manduka, they also enjoy the chance to persuade a fool to give up his money!
