Nanthipurathu Nayagi

Nanthipurathu Nayagi, a historical novel by Vikraman, however, sources its characters from another author, Kalki’s Ponniyin Selvan. True to the legendary Tamil author Kalki’s prediction that Ponniyin Selvan will raise many questions and that other authors would attempt to answer them, Vikraman has created the same characters with the same attributes.

Nanthipurathu Nayagi shares characters namely Vandiyadevan, Kundavai, Arulmozhi Varman and Parthibendra Pallavan with the celebrated Ponniyin Selvan novel. The novel was a historic event in Tamil literature which proved that the characters of a novel can pave the way to compose another novel. Vikraman, mentored by Legendary Kalki, has written 34 novels and around 150 short stories, besides working as an Editor for Amudasurabhi for more than 5 decades.
