Karuvachi Kaviyam - Tamil

One of the top Tamil poets, Vairamuthu's works, Karuvachi Kaviyam, depicts the life of the protagonist Karuvachi and the challenges society throws at her while she lives alone. She confronts at least three male characters to the town itself, only to emerge spotless and pure. The poet-novelist eloquently portrays the hardships of an ordinary Tamil Nadu village woman, her fortitude in the face of her husband's atrocities, and her ability to bounce back from trying circumstances.

The book is engaging from the very beginning to the very end and is highly recommended for any fan of Tamil literature. Regarding the book, Vairamuthu reportedly exclaims that a beauty concealed by dust could become the focus of attention more than women from the upper class.
