Gandhari, the mother of the Kauravas, presents a distinct situation. Although she was a good woman, her sons were evil. She was surrounded by treachery. Her brother Shakuni was a notorious villain, her husband was weak and ambitious, and her hundred sons were full of anger and hatred. She stood out among them as a symbol of integrity and honesty, much like a single lotus in a swampy area.
