Sidhivinayak Temple -Siddhatek

Lord Ganesha is the vighna hartha, the destroyer of the evil within and around us. Maharashtra’s Ashtavinayak temples are an abode of Lord Ganesha in 8 different forms to destroy all our Vighna in our life. In this blog series of Ashtavinayak, we have read about Moreshwar, now it's Sidhivinayak of Siddhatek.

According to Mudgala Purana, the legend of the Sidhivinayak temple states that Lord Vishnu had penanced on Lord Ganesha at the hillock of Siddatek to invoke the blessings and siddhis to win over the two demons called Madhu and Kaitabha. Lord Vishnu chanted “Om Shri Ganeshaya Namah”. Lord Ganesha was pleased and bestowed Lord Vishnu with the Siddhis to win over the demons. The hillock is called Siddhatek, where the Sidhivinayak Temple was erected. The deity has his trunk facing the right side, which is very rare, and it is a belief that right-trunked Ganesha is powerful, bestows sidhis when penanced with utmost devotion. This is the only temple considered Jagruta kshetra among all the Ashtavinayak temples.

The Siddhivinayak temple is constructed of Black Stone and faces the north. It is located on the banks of the Bhima River in Karjat Taluka in Ahmednagar, 19 km from Daund Railway Station in Pune district. The temple is accessible from the southern side of the Bhima River on a boat or the newly constructed bridge, which is 48 km away. Other prominent routes in the 48 km distance are Karjat-Rashin-Siddhatek, Shirur- Shrigonda- Siddhatek, and Daund-Kasti-Padgaon.

The major festivals attracting many devotees to Siddhivinayak temple are Ganesh Chaturthi, Ganesh Jayanthi, Vijayadashmi, and Somavati Amavasaya. These auspicious days are celebrated with grandeur and the highest level of devotion by the devotees across the region and the world.
