Description
Ashtabandhanam, the mixture first of its kind in Traditional architechtural systems. Used as adhesive in temples of Southern style. Contains eight natural elements mixed in right proportions as prescribed by Shastras to attach the idol (vigraha) to the peeta. Usually looks like a red-colour clay containing 8 herbs, mixed with limestone powder, resin, red ochre, beewax and butter. Usually used during Kumbabishekam of samprokshanam of temples once in 12 years or in a newly constructed temples.
