Description
Sri Vara Lakshmi or Sri Vara Mahalakshmi Pooja marks the beginning of festivities of every year. Simha masa (Avani) the Friday before the pournami day, Sri Varalakshmi pooja is performed. Traditionally, the face of Sri Lakshmi is well decorated and placed on a Kumba adorned with limbs and flowers. This face is made from thick ceramic and painted in yellow (golden) colour with designs and aura behind the head, giving a rich and opulent look. Sri Varalakshmi pooja is performed for attaining wealth and prosperity.
