Sri Muka Panchashati was written by Sri Muka Sankarendra Saraswati, the 20th Acharya to adorn Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam. Through the blessings of Goddess Kamakshi, Acharya, who was deaf and silent at birth, could speak. He was the son of astrologer and astronomer Vidyavati.

Upon discovering that Mooka had gained speech through divine grace, the then-Acharya of Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam, Sri Vidyaghana, requested permission from the boy's parents to grant him sanyasa and named him as successor in the Kamakoti Math. The sole composition thought to be as beautiful as Lila Suka's Krishna Karnamrta is Muka Panchasati, a lyrical poetry outburst on Kamakshi by Muka Sankara.
