Description
The specialty of the Muthangi Maalai is that it is mostly used during alankaram of the deity after abhisheka. This Muthangi finds Its place in Varalakshmi Vrata pooja, where the Sri Lakshmi is decorated. This angi is adorned with multicoloured beads knotted in a specific pattern to look like a necklace or a short, close garland. A small thick cotton thread is attached to easily tie and untie the necklace. It is used in place of real flowers owing to Its more permanent form and bejewelled allure.
