Description
Marapachi bommais are original special dolls from Tirupathi, Kalahasti the land of Lord Venkateshwara. It Made of red teakwood available only from the trees in hills of Tirupathi hills. Has medicinal values. As tradition, these dolls are presented to the bride and the groom at the time of marriage as toys for the couple usually, the old ones which the mother gives to the girl during her marriage for keeping kolu. Adorning with jewels, vastras and ornaments, these bommais come as couples dressed in their wedding attire, signifying the start of the bride's Gollu collection, which then grows over the years with the addition of various clay dolls from the southern part of India.
