Description
We can find Rangolis in most South Indian homes. Kolam or Rangoli is a pattern drawn in the puja room or in front of the main doorway/entrance. People draw the designs with a special white powder of crushed marble, chalk, rice flour, rice paste, haldi, kumkum, and other coloured powders. Drawing kolams in the house is considered auspicious and invites the blessings of Goddess Lakshmi into the home. During Havans and Homams, people draw different rangoli patterns to invoke specific Gods and Goddesses.
