* Thirunavukarasar, also known as Appar, was a Tamil saint and poet who lived in the 7th century CE. He is one of the 63 Nayanmars, who were the devotees of Lord Shiva and played a major role in spreading the Shaivism sect in Tamil Nadu. Thirunavukarasar composed many devotional hymns in Tamil, including the Thevaram, which is a collection of devotional songs dedicated to Lord Shiva.
* The Thevaram is part of the Tamil literary canon and is considered one of the most important works of Tamil literature. It consists of over 4,000 hymns, which are divided into 12 volumes known as Thirumurais. The Thevaram is known for its devotional and philosophical content and is considered a major source of Tamil spiritual and cultural heritage.
* The Thevaram books composed by Thirunavukarasar are characterized by their simplicity and emotional depth. They are written in a poetic style that combines the beauty of the Tamil language with a deep spiritual insight into the nature of God and the human condition. The hymns express the intense devotion of the poet to Lord Shiva and his longing to attain oneness with the divine.
* The Thevaram is an important part of the Shaivite tradition and is often recited during religious ceremonies and festivals. The hymns are believed to have the power to purify the mind and bring spiritual awakening to the devotee. The Thevaram is also a testament to the rich cultural and spiritual heritage of Tamil Nadu and has had a profound impact on the development of Tamil literature, music, and art.
