A Deepam/Vilakku/Diya is an oil wick lamp. The Vilakku has many uses like Puja, Aarthi, or decorating the home on festival days. A kuthu vilakku is a lamp usually made of brass or silver. It can hold many wicks or thiris separately within the lamp. The lamp looks like several diyas have lit up at once. Lighting an oil lamp in the house attracts positivity and wealth into the home.
Features
This Vilakku is a traditional Kerala-style lamp from the town of Changanacherry. It has a round base to place the wick/thiri and is deep enough to retain oil to burn the thiri/wick for a long time. The Vilakku has a sturdy and well-designed stand and can be taken apart for easy storage.
