Pazhamozhi Nanooru - Tamil

Pazhamozhi Nanooru comprises 400 proverbs in poetic form and is a part of the Pathinen Keezhkannaku, which belongs to the 'post-Sangam period' corresponding to between 100 and 500 CE and written by Munrurai Araiyanaar, a Jain. The book underlines many ideas that have appeared in Naaladiyar and Thirukural, which also feature in Pathinen keezh kanakku.

While other books have traces of proverbs, Pazhamozhi Nanooru is entirely built on proverbs, making it a unique feature of the literary work. The context of the proverb appears in the beginning of the poem while the proverb features in its end. Gnana Manikkavasagan’s commentary minimizes the distance between this ancient text and the modern reader. Apart from familiarizing the grammatical intricacies, the commentary enhances contextual understanding.
