The Garuda Purana - Manmatha Nath Dutt

There are eighteen Puranas in all. They were penned by Sage Veda Vyasa. The vedic scriptures, as well as the Sutra texts of Aapasthamba, Gauthama, and other authors, contain allusions to Epics and Puranas. Nowadays, very few of the earlier puraiias remain in existence; only those written by Veda Vyasa are still in print.

Lord Vishnu himself told his vehicle Garuda this story in the Garuda Puranam. Worship practices, feasts, and rites are explained. It also discusses funeral customs, medicine, and the soul after death.
