Ramanuja was the first religious leader to transform Vaishnavism into a mass movement. Vaishnavism became a living religion and popular movement during his time. Ramanuja believed that 'all those who wanted to surrender to Tirumala were Vaishnavisms; there was no caste difference among them'.
